PSAUME 1.

(PDV2017)

3Il prospère comme un arbre |implanté près d’un cours d’eau ;
il donne toujours son fruit |lorsqu’en revient la saison.
Son feuillage est toujours vert ;
tout ce qu’il fait réussit. (BDS)

(PDV2017)

THE BOOK OF PSALMS ARE 150 SONGS FOR YOU

The Book of Psalms is a collection of 150 ancient songs. King David wrote many Psalms (that is, songs).
There are many different subjects. Many Psalms are glad songs which praise God (for example, Psalms 103 and 150). Other Psalms are sad prayers (Psalm 74). Some Psalms explain that God will rescue us from our troubles (Psalms 40 and 41). And some Psalms are about the history of Israel (Psalms 74 and 78). Psalm 119 is about the Bible. In Psalm 51, David confesses an evil deed. Psalm 22 describes how Jesus would suffer. Psalm 2 tells us that God will rule the world. Psalm 1 teaches that we must love God.
The Psalms are a very special part of the Bible. We can learn many things about God from their beautiful words. They are in the Bible's Old Testament.

PSALM 8. OUR LORD, HOW MAJESTIC IS YOUR NAME IN ALL THE EARTH

Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.
Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

version: King James Version (KJV)

PSALM 3. THE BLESSING OF THE LORD IS UPON MY CHILDREN

Lord, how are th increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.

Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.
But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.
I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
Salvation belongeth unto the Lord: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

PSALM 1. TODAY IS THE CHOICE BETWEEN THE TWO WAYS OF MEN

TWO WAYS TO LIVE

THE WAY TO HAPPINESS

THE HAPPINESS OF THE JUST AND THE EVIL STATE OF THE WICKED.

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.(KJV)

God blesses those people who refuse evil advice and won’t follow sinners or join in sneering at God. (CEV).

Blessed is the one who obeys the law of the Lord.

He doesn't follow the advice of evil people.
He doesn't make a habit of doing what sinners do.
He doesn't join those who make fun of the Lord and his law. (NIRV)

Happy is the person who doesn’t listen to the wicked. He doesn’t go where sinners go. He doesn’t do what bad people do. (ICB)

Blessed is the man who hath not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stood in the way of sinners, nor sat in the chair of pestilence.(DRC)

Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked [following their advice and example],
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit [down to rest] in the seat of scoffers (ridiculers). (AMP)

Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather. (AMPC)

The truly happy person doesn’t follow wicked advice, doesn’t stand on the road of sinners, and doesn’t sit with the disrespectful. (CEB)

That man hath perfect blessedness,
who walketh not astray
In counsel of ungodly men,
nor stands in sinners' way,
Nor sitteth in the scorner's chair: (MP1650)

But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. (KJV)

Instead, the Law of the Lord makes them happy, and they think about it day and night. (CEV)

Instead, the law of the Lord gives them joy. They think about his law day and night.(NIRV)

He loves the Lord’s teachings. He thinks about those teachings day and night.(ICB)

But his will is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he shall meditate day and night. (DRC)

But his delight is in the law of the Lord
And on His law [His precepts and teachings] he [habitually] meditates day and night. (AMP).

But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night. (AMPC)

Instead of doing those things, these persons love the Lord’s Instruction, and they recite God’s Instruction day and night! (CEB)

But placeth his delight
Upon God's law,
and meditates on his law
day and night. (MP1650)

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. (KJV).

They are like trees growing beside a stream, trees that produce fruit in season and always have leaves. Those people succeed in everything they do. (CEV).

That kind of person is like a tree that is planted near a stream of water. It always bears its fruit at the right time. Its leaves don’t dry up. Everything godly people do turns out well. (NIRV)

He is strong, like a tree planted by a river. It produces fruit in season.
Its leaves don’t die. Everything he does will succeed.
(ICB)

And he shall be like a tree which is planted near the running waters, which shall bring forth its fruit, in due season. And his leaf shall not fall off: and all whosoever he shall do shall prosper. (DRC)

And he will be like a tree firmly planted [and fed] by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season; Its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers [and comes to maturity]. (AMP)

And he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity]. (AMPC)

They are like a tree replanted by streams of water, which bears fruit at just the right time and whose leaves don’t fade. Whatever they do succeeds. (CEB)

He shall be like a tree that grows
near planted by a river,
Which in his season yields his fruit,
and his leaf fadeth never:
And all he doth shall prosper well (MP1650)

The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. (KJV).

That isn’t true of those who are evil, because they are like straw blown by the wind. (CEV)

Sinful people are not like that at all. They are like straw that the wind blows away. (NIRV)

But wicked people are not like that. They are like useless chaff that the wind blows away.(ICB)

Not so the wicked, not so: but like the dust, which the wind driveth from the face of the earth.  (DRC)

The wicked [those who live in disobedience to God’s law] are not so,
But they are like the chaff [worthless and without substance] which the wind blows away. (AMP)

Not so the wicked [those disobedient and living without God are not so]. But they are like the chaff [worthless, dead, without substance] which the wind drives away. (AMPC)

That’s not true for the wicked!
They are like dust that the wind blows away. (CEB)

The wicked are not so;
But like they are unto the chaff,

which wind drives to and fro. (MP1650)

Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. (KJV).

Sinners won’t have an excuse on the day of judgment, and they won’t have a place with the people of God. (CEV)

When the Lord judges them, their life will come to an end. Sinners won’t have any place among those who are godly. (NIRV).

So the wicked will not escape God’s punishment. Sinners will not worship God with good people. (ICB)

Therefore the wicked shall not rise again in judgment: nor sinners in the council of the just.(DRC)

Therefore the wicked will not stand [unpunished] in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. (AMP)

Therefore the wicked [those disobedient and living without God] shall not stand [justified] in the judgment, nor [b]sinners in the congregation of the righteous [those who are upright and in right standing with God] (AMPC)

And that’s why the wicked will have no standing in the court of justice— neither will sinners in the assembly of the righteous. (CEB)

In judgment therefore shall not stand
such as ungodly are;
Nor in th' assembly of the just
shall wicked men appear. (MP1650)

For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. (KJV).

The Lord protects everyone who follows him, but the wicked follow a road that leads to ruin. (CEV)

The Lord watches over the lives of godly people. But the lives of sinful people will lead to their death. (NIRV)

This is because the Lord protects good people. But the wicked will be destroyed. (ICB)

For the Lord knoweth the way of the just: and the way of the wicked shall perish. (DRC)

For the Lord knows and fully approves the way of the righteous,
But the way of the wicked shall perish. (AMP)

For the Lord knows and is fully acquainted with the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly [those living outside God’s will] shall perish (end in ruin and come to nought). (AMPC)

The Lord is intimately acquainted with the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked is destroyed. (CEB)
For why? the way of godly men
unto the Lord is known:
Whereas the way of wicked men
shall quite be overthrown. (MP1650)

Psalm 1:1 This has been called “The Preface Psalm” because in some respects it may be considered “the text upon which the whole of the Psalms make up a divine sermon.” It opens with a benediction, “Blessed,” as does our Lord’s Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5:3).
Psalm 1:5 Charles Haddon Spurgeon (The Treasury of David) said, “Sinners cannot live in heaven. They would be out of their element. Sooner could a fish live upon a tree than the wicked in paradise.” The only way they will ever be able to endure heaven is to be born again and become new creatures with pure hearts able fully to enjoy the presence of God, His holy angels, and the redeemed.
